The Center Russian of Nuclear physics VNIIEF in Sarov proposes two software of teaching to you:
- MASTER for the simulation and the modeling of the fast thermodynamic phenomena.
- MAG for the simulation and the modeling of the fast electromagnetic phenomena.
The two software is complementary one with the other, the interfaces of the two software proceed of the same technique.
They are based on a calculation with the finite elements in only one dimension - 1D-, but it is possible to adapt these calculations by using functionalities of axial or spherical symmetry.
There exists on the market of other very powerful software which makes modelings in - 3D - but this software uses very large machines, with MASTER and MAG you can work on a PC.
Moreover the training of use of this software is very long, whereas while following the instructions given in MASTER and MAG, after two hours of teaching you can make useful simulations. The calculations made on PC by MASTER and MAG are equivalent to calculations which could be done in the Seventies on large machines like the IBM-360/44. But one at the time made already very good simulations.
One of the originalities of MASTER and MAG is to integrate an automatic generation of the meshs of the finite elements, which simplifies considerably the tasks of initialization of the programs.
Another originality of these programs is integration in the bank of data of the equations of states of many materials. These equations of states represent a thesaurus accumulated at the time of dynamic thousands of tests carried out by VNIIEF and before by Arzamas-16.
